Village Manor Retirement is proud to host a series of mini markets/craft fairs for our residents. Homemade breads, pies, cookies, jams and diabetic desserts were in plenty for purchase. Fresh fruits and vegetables were also available with everything portioned for the senior appetite. Our next markets will be on October 12th and November 16th. The public is welcome!

Village Manor Retirement Honors Vets

Village Manor Retirement is proud to honor its veterans. The Hartland Senior Center Men's Club joined our residents for breakfast while Commissioner David Domas handed out Certificates of Recognition for their distinguished service in the U.S. armed forces. We were reminded that we will always be the "Land of the Free" as long as we are the "Home of the Brave". Following that wonderful presentation, they were treated to a lecture by Don Burgett, WWII celebrated author and decorated veteran.
Next, Quilts of Valor presented each of our veterans with a hand-made quilt in honor of their service. Ann Meredith, Quilts of Valor Coordinator, and her crew lovingly make each quilt to present to veterans to thank them for the freedom that each one of us enjoys.
The afternoon was made special by an appearance from WWII veteran and film maker, Duane Zemper. Residents were able to view his short film and then follow up with discussion and questions to Mr. Zemper himself. What a treat!
To round out the day, the Rolling Thunder Veterans Group appeared for a special POW flag raising and the Marine Corps League shot a 21 gun salute. We could never thank our veterans enough for their brave service. This day, however, was a wonderful way to try!

Resident Couple Celebrates 65 Years of Marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bloomfield celebrated 65 years of marriage with friends and family at Village Manor Retirement on March 22, 2010. Mr. Bloomfield fondly recalled the day that they said their vows in front of the fireplace in his wife's parent's home. The Hartland Senior Center's Men's Barbershop Quartet came in to entertain for the occasion. Scrumptious cake, friends and fun - what a great way to celebrate 65 years!

Residents Offered New Way to Keep In Touch

Residents at Village Manor are now offered a new way to keep in touch with friends and family members who are too far away to visit often. Webcam services with personal assistance are offered free of charge. We find that simple things, such as being able to visually see a beloved friend or family member, add so much to the daily living experience here at Village Manor.
